Celebrate 200
Join our celebration of 200 years of pioneering faith and care, started by the first Methodists in Sydney in 1812.
This event is a special occasion where we will celebrate the roots of Wesley Mission from the first meeting of Methodists in Sydney in 1812. In the following years their commitment to “Do all the good you can” inspired them to found many of the community services that you see Wesley Mission delivering today.
On the day, we expect more than 1800 people to join us, including church and community leaders. Mark Scott AO, a senior Officer of Wesley Mission and Managing Director of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, will join Rev Dr Keith V Garner to host the event, with contributions by The Hon Barry O’Farrell MP, Premier of New South Wales and The Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, Federal Minister for Health.
We will begin the proceedings at Martin Place at 2.15 pm where an historical drama re-enactment will be performed, and a processional march with police escort will lead us to the State Theatre, where Celebrate 200 will be held.
We would be delighted if you, along with your family, could join us on the march and at the State Theatre, to celebrate 200 years of service to the people of Sydney and NSW.
This is a ticketed event so please register for your free tickets by 26 June 2012.
