Edward Eagar Lodge
Wesley Mission provides emergency accommodation for adult males and females at Edward Eagar Lodge situated in Bourke Street, Surry Hills.
Edward Eagar Lodge has a comprehensive support program.
The lodge accommodates seventy-six single people aged 18 years to 80+ years. There are 13 women and 63 men accommodated for up to three months. Single rooms provide privacy, dignity, and personal space and secure storage for belongings.
Edward Eagar Lodge has a comprehensive support program, which looks at physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual, vocational and recreational needs. The program incorporates:
- Case management
- Recovery groups
- Christian activities
- Self-development
- Living skill support groups
- Counselling
- Recreational activities
- Regular visits by the local mental health team
- Interagency networking.
The program is open to all in the community.
A Community Education Officer encourages clients to detect lifeskill weaknesses that cause difficulties and then, within a supportive relationship, educate them in relevant skills.
A Housing Assessment worker helps clients make suitable choices regarding their housing. Various options are presented as well as the services offered by other agencies.
Pastoral Care Assistants lead bible studies, support groups and organise church activities, providing spiritual care and nurture for clients under the guidance of the Minister for Edward Eagar Lodge Community Church.
