Newcastle LifeForce Memorial Service 2006
This was the first Memorial Service held outside of Sydney and Newcastle provided the perfect setting to remember the lives of family and friends lost to suicide. The Service, a joint initiative of Wesley Newcastle City Mission and Wesley LifeForce, was very moving with guests given the opportunity to reflect and cast a sunflower into Newcastle Harbour in memory of loved ones.
Guest speaker Jennifer Wendtman encouraged guests to do all they could to truly get to know their loved ones. Although they may have known them as a brother, sister or nephew; they were also a friend or best friend to others. Guests were encouraged to seek out those people who knew their loved one in another way and learn from them.
The response to the service was overwhelmingly positive with many people indicating their support for next year.
