Wesley LifeForce Memorial Day Sydney
More than 400 people attended the 16th annual Wesley LifeForce Suicide Memorial Day at the Sydney Opera House on September 9.
The Day brings together people who have been affected by the suicide of someone they know and gives them the chance to share in remembrance of the lives lost.
The event is normally held outdoors but wet weather forced participants inside this year.
“Although we were inside, the event was still very personal and deeply moving, according to Wesley LifeForce Manager Tony Cassidy.
Rev Dr Keith V Garner spoke about the importance of sharing grief while two guests Natalie Lummis and Kristy Steenhuis – talked about the devastating experience of losing loved ones through suicide.
Participants laid sunflowers at the base of a Memorial Wall and placed photos of their loved ones and messages there as well.
