Alcohol and other drugs program
The use of alcohol and/or other drugs is an accepted part of Australian culture. What starts as a pleasurable experience for people can unfortunately lead to substance abuse and dependence.
Dependence means that the alcohol and/or drug becomes the central focus of a persons thoughts, emotions and activities.
Wesley Hospital adopts an abstinence-based approach and provides a therapeutic program that fosters self-reliance and self-responsibility. The Alcohol and Other Drugs day program includes group work and individual counseling sessions. The patient is involved in an intensive education and interactive learning program which aims to provide patients with the skills to manage their disorder.
