Wesley Mission media department wins three Accolade Awards
During 2008, Wesley Mission’s media department won three Accolade Awards for their documentaries, The Three Fathers of Christmas and Santa’s Forgotten People and weekly television program, Rise & Shine. This year they have repeated their performance again with two more Accolade Awards of Merit.
The Accolade Competition 
is an international secular competition that honours outstanding achievement in film, television and videography.
The two awards were for Christmas Past & Present and Run Away to Freedom.
Wesley Mission’s Christmas documentary: Christmas Past & Present, featured on Channel 7, won an Award of Merit for ‘contemporary issues and awareness raising’. The documentary featured the work of Wesley Mission’s staff caring in the areas of ‘out of home care’, ‘R J Williams Lodge’ and ‘Ministry & Mission’. In particular it looked at the social isolation many of Wesley Mission’s clients feel at Christmas time and how Wesley Mission’s staff care for them and fill the void during this time of the year. Michael Bennett, Creative Services Manager, said “the award is just as much a tribute to Wesley Mission’s staff who love, care and support their clients as it is to Dalanglin Dkhar, Matthew Murray and Christine Johnson (the Media team) who created the project”.
The other award was for Run Away to Freedom, Wesley Mission’s joint Easter production with Jordan Productions. The documentary featured the story behind the Apostle Paul’s letter to Philemon. It was featured on Channel 9 on Good Friday. Run Away to Freedom won the Award of Merit for ‘religion and ethics’.
