Helping struggling families 365 days a year
Do you have a New Year’s resolution?
Struggling families do, it is to survive.
While other businesses took a break at Christmas, Wesley Mission didn’t. Our resolution remains, to help struggling families 365 days a year.
Your gifts in action
Eight children squashed around a small table singing happy birthday. But Katie, the now five year old, was anything but happy.
Without a support network to rely on and little experience in financial management, Katie’s family was doing it tough.
Katie lives with her parents and seven siblings in a small community west of Newcastle. Screams often fill their already cramped home, but they weren’t joyful screams of children playing.
The relationship between Lyndall, Katie’s mum and her dad was falling apart. And with so much of their time absorbed by their conflict, it is the kids that missed out.
“While some parents worry about providing Christmas lunch, I struggle to feed my kids each day” Lyndal remembers how tough times were.
“I felt trapped in my own home. Overcome by the pressure of raising eight kids, I no longer had time for myself or to solve problems as they came up. But thanks to Wesley Mission, I no longer feel alone. Something I haven’t felt in years.”
