A stationery set is basic but many kids from disadvantaged homes do not even have simple items to help them do well in school and complete their work like other children. -
After-school care
$30 ensures kids from struggling families are cared for so that their parents can go off to work.
Basic needs like food and clothes are getting increasingly expensive, so both parents now have to work in order to support their struggling families. Kids need to be in before and after school care, so that parents can go off to work. -
Rhyming books
$50 for 10 nursery rhyme books to help kids improve their literacy skills.
Research shows that if a child can recite eight nursery rhymes by four years of age, he/she will most likely be a successful reader*. Additionally 47 per cent of welfare dependent parents have no alphabet books in the home compared to 3 per cent of professional parents**.
