Easter Mission 2012
A new dawn
Easter reminds us that through periods of darkness, hope arrives at the coming of a new dawn.
By joining with others and taking part in the dramatic and engaging events of Holy Week, we let that message of love and forgiveness penetrate our lives.
Jesus ’ love brings a new dawn on life so that we can confidently proclaim: “... shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.”
Isaiah 60:1-2
Palm Sunday and Open Air Service
Sunday afternoon diners, shoppers and tourists were greeted with the unusual but vibrant sight of a palm-waving throng moving through the foreshore of Circular Quay. Leading the way was Wesley Mission congregation member, Paul Cattanach, 29, dressed in period costume as Jesus riding a donkey and re-enacting Jesus ’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.
Good Friday, Way of the Cross Procession and Observance
Wesley Mission made hundreds of onlookers, including tourists, shoppers and city hotel workers, think about the significance of Good Friday as Jesus ’ trial and walk to the cross was re-enacted on the streets of Sydney.
Easter Sunday, Sunrise Service
The resurrection on Easter Sunday is a new dawn for all people offering fresh hope and opportunities. That was the message from the Rev Dr Keith Garner, CEO of Wesley Mission, during Wesley Mission ’s Easter Sunrise Service at the Sydney Opera House.
