Easter Sunrise Service - April 8
Resurrection dawns on the Harbour
It was a bright and sunny Easter morning as worshippers gathered at sunrise at the Opera House for the traditional Wesley Mission Easter service, which this year was broadcast on Channel 7 and simulcast on FM 103.2.
Wesley Mission Superintendent, Rev Keith Garner led the service, preaching a sermon on The Point of Easter. The service also featured the Wesley Institute Choir, dressed in striking red and black. Well-known singer Roma Waterman performed two solos.
Nesan Kistan, an officer with the Salvation Army who lost his father at the Port Arthur Massacre, and Sarah White, founder of Lent Event, were interviewed by Keith Garner during the service. Channel 7 also televised an interview with the head of Wesley Mission’s LifeForce, Kirsty D’Bais, who discussed LifeForce’s work in suicide prevention.
The service closed with fellowship and traditional Easter breakfast. It was the perfect end to a chilly Easter morning and Keith Garner was a willing participant, handing out the toasty hot cross buns.
