Peacebuilding in the Pacific Islands - The new Wesley Fair project for 2008

The Wesley Fair Launch Dinner was held in the Smith Room at Wesley Centre on 28 February, when 121 people enjoyed a great evening. The Superintendent revealed the new project for Wesley Fair 2008:

We plan to work in partnership as congregations, Wesley Mission organisation and Alan Walker College of Evangelism to bring five students from the Pacific Islands—three to undertake training in Peace building and two to train in Evangelism.

They will then return to their own country and engage in equipping others in these important areas. We will also continue to provide some support for students training for ministry in Burma where circumstances are extremely difficult, in addition to supporting a local Wesley Mission project (more about this later).

The great Wesley Fair tea party!

At the Launch Dinner on 28 February, the Superintendent announced his new fundraising venture … following the success of the Talent Challenge (initiated at last year’s Launch Dinner) which raised $12,500!!

Keith Garner gave guests a bag containing a box of teabags (with the compliments of Dilmah) and a bag of cookies (from Cookie Man) and asked everyone to arrange morning/afternoon teas to raise funds for the new Wesley Fair Project for 2008 – Peace building and Evangelism in the Pacific Islands with a proportion of funds continuing to support ministry students in Myanmar/Burma and a local Wesley Mission program. A Commonwealth Bank moneybox was also included, which could be used to encourage extra donations for the project.

If you missed out on attending the launch dinner, you can still be involved in the Great Wesley Fair Tea Party. Just contact Carol Garner – Carol.Garner@wesleymission.org.au or Amy Fallon on 02 9263 5438 and we will ensure you receive a bag of goodies.

Monies raised can be handed to Carol or Amy at Keith's office at any time, but by 31st July at the very latest. Cheques to be made payable to ‘Wesley Mission’ and placed in an envelope addressed to Carol Garner, indicating it is for the Great Tea Party—If you are donating cash, please include a note of the amount enclosed, together with your name.
