Equip Youth Mentor

Equip Youth Mentoring Program

  • Willing to travel to Western Sydney & Penrith areas
  • Training offered
  • Fortnightly - 4 hours

The EQUIP Youth Mentoring Program matches adult volunteers to mentor young people who are going through a process of change, growth and development. The program recruits, trains and supports volunteer mentors. Any adult over the age of 21 may apply to become a mentor.

Currently there is a list of young males waiting to be matched with male mentors. However any adult over the age of 21 may apply to be a mentor

Mentoring is one-to-one relationship between a young person and an older adult who is focused on the young person's growth and development. It is different from counselling - it is less formal and more relational. EQUIP asks its volunteers to commit to meeting face-to-face with a young person approximately four hours a fortnight with regular telephone contact in between meetings. The mentoring match goes for nine months (though there are possibilities for shortening or extending that time period). The purpose of the program is to "equip" young people for change by providing a caring, interesting and positive adult volunteer mentor.

Current driver's license is essential.

Come and join our volunteer team and positively influence others.

To apply for this volunteer role or for more details, please contact Anna Schulz on (02) 9638 2480 or email Anna.Schulz@wesleymission.org.au
