Lights, Camera, Action - Wesley E-Recycling in the spotlight

03 November 2008

All of the hard work that the Wesley E-Recycling team has done to make their program a success has paid off, with nominations for two prestigious awards. The winners of these awards will be announced in November:

1. Not-For-Profit Network Awards Project of the Year
2. Diversity at Work Employment & Inclusion of People with a Disability Award - http://www.diversityatwork.com.au/awards/categories

On top of this fantastic news, the Wesley E-Recycling team were also announced as one of the five successful recipients of the 2008 Canon Environmental Grant This link opens a new browser window.

The Canon Australia Environment Grant assists groups working on environmental projects anywhere in Australia. Five successful applicants are each awarded Canon products to the value of AU $5000 based on the environmental merits of their projects and the importance of digital imaging technology in achieving their objectives.

Wesley E-Recycling will receive a high-end digital video camera and an enthusiast-level compact digital camera which will enable us to record our processes, produce training videos, and make marketing collateral to forge partnerships with other disability services around Australia and raise community awareness of our program.

Inclusion of people with disabilities and the growing e-waste problem are areas that the community, organisations and individuals are very conscious of, which is evident from the amount of support and interest our program generates.

The Wesley E-Recycling program is viewed as innovative and unique as it empowers people with a disability to use their skills to make a valuable contribution to society and the environment.
