He’s done it! Luke Jacobz crowned champion of 'Dancing with the Stars'

14 November 2008

After 10 weeks of toe-tapping, hip-swaying (and nail-biting) competition, Luke Jacobz has transformed his moves from coarse to cool to take out the championship of Dancing with the Stars.

His win was well deserved. Luke and dance partner, Luda, delivered a first-class performance for their final “freestyle” dance which won them perfect scores from all three judges.

Luke was up against boxer Danny Green for the final round on the dance floor, but Danny was no match for the Home and Away heart throb who dealt him a fancy-footed blow, deftly swiping the dazzling disco-ball trophy from Danny’s reach.

Luke was ecstatic over his win, marvelling at how far he had come from his humble dance beginnings at the start of the show. He praised his dance partner, Luda, whose perseverance and talent helped convert Luke into a prize-winning player on the dance floor.

After being crowned champion and thanking those who had helped him achieve it, he commented on how pleased he was to be involved with Wesley Mission.

“Wesley Mission do great things and have been doing so for almost 200 years, so it’s great to be able to support such a worthy cause,” he said.

Earlier in the week, Luke and Luda spent time at Edward Eagar Lodge (EEL), serving lunch to clients and others who dropped in. They were presented with flowers and a card by one of the EEL clients, who thanked them on behalf of Wesley Mission for their support.

The amount of money raised for Wesley Mission from Dancing with the Stars has not yet been tallied, but will be announced in due time.
