Keith Garner’s Christmas comments in the Herald

THE Federal Government's spending to stimulate the economy is a "superficial" response to the crisis many families face and will not build stronger communities, a prominent religious leader has warned in a Christmas message.
The superintendent of the Wesley Mission, Sydney, the Reverend Keith Garner, invoked the Holy Family in his message, which also referred to the growing economic gloom.
"Jesus Christ was born into an uncertain world," he said. "It was no party for Mary and Joseph, but they put their trust in God as they journeyed through a difficult period of their lives. This message is as true today as it was 2000 years ago: trusting Christ and reaching out to others to give and to receive can enrich, change and provide practical and lasting hope in an uncertain world."
