Australia in the grip of 'global moral crisis'

AUSTRALIA has been swept up in a "global moral crisis", which has licensed violence on the streets, abuse in the home, cowardice in politics and greed in the corporate world, says one of Sydney's leading churchmen.
The Reverend Keith Garner, superintendent of the Wesley Mission, told a breakfast meeting yesterday that even his organisation, a leading provider of welfare services, had suffered in the global economic downturn, itself a product of moral lapse.
"It's no secret that we at Wesley Mission have been deeply damaged by commercial and political decisions, which will have a direct impact on our work amongst the poor and marginalised," Dr Garner said.
