Care Services
This year has seen significant public policy changes which will affect our work well into the future. The State Government has guaranteed $1.6 billion for additional mental health services, which will significantly change the profile of existing programs we provide in our hospitals. It will also potentially assist our clients in Lifeline and other counselling services with follow up services to meet long term needs.
Federal government policy reform introduced this year will assist younger people with disabilities to move out of nursing homes and relocate into more appropriate accommodation within the community.
Residential Aged Care Services have been highly commended by the Standards Agency for their outstanding work with very vulnerable clients and all sites have received a further 3 year accreditation.
Our Community Aged Care work has seen a significant development of their profile, with an additional $600K being provided for domestic services in the Cumberland area – a 300% increase in services to this location.
With the increasing demand for care support being taken into the home, our community aged care staff and Wesley Noakes Services have been well placed to bring outstanding personal care to the elderly homeless, those who are housebound, those needing palliative care support , experiencing a disability, or requiring respite as a carer of vulnerable clients.
Both our Alan Walker (Carlingford) site and the Frank Vickery (Sylvania) site will have built new “ageing in place” facilities, after a year of planning. We thank God that this has been another year of significant blessing for both clients and staff in Care Services.
