Wesley Uniting Employment

Wesley Uniting Employment (WUE) provides a comprehensive employment service aligned with Commonwealth Government Welfare to Work initiatives.  WUE offers services to over 30,000 people each year.  The suite of programs which are run across NSW include Job Network Services, dedicated to finding jobs for unemployed people through intensive case management services; Personal Support Programs, which bridge the gap between crisis services and employment assistance programs; Work for the Dole, which provides work experience for the longer-term unemployed; and Job Placement Employment and Training, which focuses on disadvantaged young people.  All of these programs are federal government programs contracted by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.

In addition to these programs, WUE is also contracted to provide other specialist programs such as:

In the far north coast region, WUE provides Disability Employment Network Services, helping people with a disability into work.  Also in that region there are a number of smaller programs run by WUE with a special area of interest.  These include Support and New Directions for Students to assist in raising the levels of young people remaining in school; Magistrates Early Release into Treatment to assist offenders and keep them from returning to prison; and the Nambucca Valley Youth Transport Services Program which provides evening transport for young people to take them safely to their destinations and keep them off the streets.

In the Taree and Great Lakes area on the mid north coast WUE are contracted to provide the Indigenous Youth Employment program which is an early intervention program focusing on working with young Koori children to increase school retention or to place them into further education, training or traineeships.

This year the primary focus has been on securing new contracts and WUE has been successful in entering into new contracts with expanded work opportunities, particularly in the programs it runs for Work for the Dole.  WUE is one of the largest providers of employment services in Australia.
