Community and Family Development

In reviewing the activities, challenges and achievements of the previous year, the constant factor is the faces of our clients.
With a focus on joined up thinking and practice, Community and Family Development has sought to use its resources, in particular its staff, to more comprehensively serve our clients and their families. While we 'record' the numbers as evidence of the extent of the reach of our services, it is the individuals that matter the most. Being able to address all of their needs, not just the immediately apparent ones, has been a very important goal for Community and Family Development.
The faces of our clients are many - a child going home with a caring foster family; a teenager who had engaged in a deadly fight of suppressing their appetite but is now maintaining healthy weight through normalisation of eating patterns, attitudes and behaviour; a family that through early intervention is helped to avoid being in crisis; a person with a disability but also with a bright smile because they have accessed employment and training opportunities; a former drug user turning away from a destructive past towards a new life of independence and healthy relationships. These are the faces that are supported by the Community, Employment and Health Services in Wesley Mission’s Community and Family Development.
Each one is special.
