While we live… we learn

The Wesley School for Seniors allows people over the age of 60 years to attend a unique school right at the heart of the Sydney CBD.

Situated at the Wesley Centre on 220 Pitt Street, the Wesley School for Seniors provides a safe haven for people to sustain their mind, body and soul with a variety of leisure and learning activities.

The School has been operating since 1969 and is the largest and longest running School of its type in New South Wales.

The School currently has an average of five hundred and fifty students per term and offers about a hundred courses, which are held five days a week, Monday to Friday.

Enrolments are held during the last two (2) weeks of the term.

The enrolment fee at present is $45.00 per term for a maximum of six (6) courses. A $10 fee is charged for each additional course. Each term takes between 9 and 11 weeks.

Terms

The School has four (4) terms a year, following the NSW School calendar, although each term finishes one week ahead.

Enrolment is now open for Term 1 2010 which runs from: 27 January - 26 March 2010

Courses

Wesley School for Seniors offers a cross section of courses, in order to keep the mind and body healthy. These include:

• Languages: French, Spanish, German, Latin, Mandarin, Greek, and Italian.
• Dancing: Ballroom and Latin, Line, Tap, Square, English Country, Scottish Country, American Contra and Polynesian.
• Music: Choir, Singers, Karaoke Sing-a-long, Classical Music, Recorders and Music Theory
• Arts: Art for Beginners (mostly oil), Water Colour, Drawing, Quilling, Origami and Parchment Paper Art
• Physical Well-being: Gentle Exercises, Exercises, Guided Mediation, Indoor Bowls
• History: Australian, Classical and Church
• Christianity and Faith: Introduction to Christian Studies and Alpha Program
• Table Games: Table Tennis, Chess, Mah-jong, Scrabble and Double 9 Domino
• Card Games: Rubber Bridge and Canasta
• Craft: Knitting, Appliqué, Quilting, Crochet, Tunisian Crochet and Needlecraft
• English Language: Great Books, Literature, Shakespeare, Speech and Expression, Voice in Action, Effective Speaking and Forum, Debating, Public Speaking, Players (Acting), English as a Second language
• Other Interests: Movies, Rome and Its Monuments, Cryptic Crossword Puzzles, Philosophy, Famous People and Places,

A small fee is charged for first time Visitors to try our classes. Only new students are eligible.
