What is financial counselling?
How does Creditline work with clients?
Our financial counsellors generally work face-to-face with each client to draw up a Personal Money Plan, taking into account:
- income
- total basic living costs
- options for possible expenditure reductions
- possible debt repayments strategies
Our strategy
Initially, Creditline or our clients may approach creditors seeking a moratorium on payments together with a freezing of interest to stabilise the financial situation, while preparing a repayment scheme for the creditor's consideration.
If the creditor has commenced legal action, Creditline can advise and assist the client in preparing and lodging appropriate documents, and if necessary accompany the client to court to provide moral support and assistance.
Our philosophy
Creditline’s philosophy combines counselling, assistance and self-help. By providing support, we enable our clients to become as independent as possible, and ultimately take charge of their own financial affairs.
Creditline also has a role as a consumer advocate by being alert for cases of unethical practices by credit providers and by offering suggestions for legislative reform through the Australian Law Reform Commission, State and Federal Attorney Generals and Consumer Affairs.
Our aims
