Funded by the Department of Ageing Disability and Homecare & Wesley Mission

Wesley Life Skills is a Transition to Work, Community Participation and Post School Option Programme for people with moderate and high support needs who are referred by the Department of Ageing Disability and Homecare.

Life Skills aims to improve the quality of lifestyle for service users through vocational training and community participation. This is achieved by assisting people to access and utilize programmes and services available in the community, to enable greater individual independence.

Service Aims

Facilitate the achievement of maximum potential:

  • by providing a service that assists individuals to have the same positive outcomes as peers such as employment opportunities
  • increased independence and integration into community 
  • being flexible and innovative in service provision 
  • by providing a service that is reviewed and evaluated with its service users

  • Links with employment opportunities
  • Social and living skills training
  • Developmental pre-employment skills
  • Access to, and participation in, dayto-day activities of local communities
  • Individual Programme Plan involving service user participation and programme implementation
  • Leisure and recreation opportunities
  • Access to a range of therapeutic services and supports
  • Independent Assessment for conformity under the DSA (Disability Services Act 1993) and ISO 9000 (Australian Standards)
  • Programming Support in Behaviour Management

Eligibility Information

Person must be over 18 years of age.
Person must have moderate to high support needs
Be funded by the Department of Ageing Disability and Homecare/or self funded

Programs

Wesley LifeSkills programs are based on individual needs, taking into account the persons preferences and interests and may include training, community access, enhancement of existing skills, development of new skills, pre employment skills training and the development of other adult living objectives.
