What is Disability Employment Services?
Disability Employment Services (DES) assists people with a disability to access education, employment and non-vocational opportunities.
How does Disability Employment Services help individuals?
"DES" is a personalised service which focuses on each individual’s needs. Participants will receive ongoing support to assist them to overcome barriers that are getting in the way of Education, Training or Employment.
Assistance is tailored to the individual and may include:
- Mentoring
- Counselling
- Assisting with Education,
- Vocationally relevant training
- Referral to other support services
Example: Sporting, cultural, recreational and community activities - Workshops and Small Groups
- On the job support after placement
Wesley Uniting Employment's DES services cater for clients with a variety of barriers to employment. Our staff have many years experience working with clients with a disability, and can connect clients with appropriate services where necessary including.
Our service is sensitive to the needs of our clients, and works with them to address and overcome barriers to employment.
Referral to our service is generally through Centrelink.
