Fact sheet about service-related trauma
Veterans’ experience of service-related trauma can lead to a range of psychological disorders. Symptoms can occur immediately or they can take time to develop; they can be ongoing or return when the memory of the trauma is triggered.
Symptoms include:
- depression
- anxiety
- mood swings and problems with controlling anger
- becoming withdrawn.
Treatment program for service-related trauma
Wesley Hospital Ashfield and Wesley Hospital Kogarah’s day patient group programs are tailored to meet the needs of veterans with a range of psychological disorders. The collaborative programs are run using cognitive behavioural therapy techniques, covering depression, anxiety and anger/anxiety.
