In our community today there are many people who are lonely and isolated. Others struggle with trauma, unemployment, relationship or financial stresses. Some may be addicted to alcohol, drugs or gambling. Others have mental or other health issues. Lifeline provides vital support for these people. Our volunteer telephone counsellors are always there to work with them through their crisis, helping them to manage their lives or find answers to their problems.

By becoming a volunteer telephone counsellor you could make a difference in the lives of many people. In serving the community in this way you would gain personal satisfaction as well as developing your existing communication skills and learning new ones. Although we have over 200 volunteer telephone counsellors we are unable to take all the calls we receive, so we warmly welcome new volunteers. Our volunteer telephone counsellors come from all walks of life, all communities and cultures and are of all ages. No previous training or counselling experience is required.
