Who are we?

For over 65 years, Wesley Newcastle City Mission has been an integral part of the fabric of Newcastle.

All our activities are grounded in our love for the people we help.

Our origins can be traced back to the vision of four local businessmen. The men wanted to do something positive to ease the suffering of local people. They answered God’s call to go out and make a difference in their local community.

Our vision

Our vision is one of loving innovation.

As we continue to serve our community, we are always mindful of the things we do to help people, and how we go about achieving our goals.

We are not bound by the ways of the past. We welcome new, exciting, innovative ways of reaching people, and have created a space where new ideas are encouraged.

However, we do not embrace innovation just to be different. All our activities are grounded in our love for the people we help.

This year we will:

• dedicate a worker to develop and transform school and community education in the region
  
• create a music program dedicated to discovering and nurturing the talents of our young people
  
• hold a LifeForce Memorial Service with a vision to partner with Wesley Mission Sydney to expand suicide-prevention workshops throughout the region
  
• partner with Wesley Mission Sydney to launch an innovative School for Seniors model in Newcastle
  
• offer a variety of new and exciting training courses to the people of Newcastle
  
• begin building an interactive web-based learning facility at our youth centre
  
• work with our local advisory board to help implement our communication plan and grow into the future
  
• create and share ideas
  
• build relationships with external service providers
  
• combine resources across Wesley Newcastle and work as one united team without barriers
  
• have fun!
