Pacific Dunes gives back to the Community

06 September 2006

Pacific Dunes Golf Club has joined forces with Wesley Newcastle City Mission, selecting the Hunter Valley based organisation as the Club’s charity of choice for 2006/2007.

Wesley Newcastle City Mission (WNCM) is a regionally based activity of Wesley Mission, providing assistance to the people of Newcastle and the Hunter Valley.

The charity provides assistance to all ages through a variety of programs including Youth Services, a visiting program for the elderly, counseling and homeless and accommodation services.

Kylie Petersen, Sales & Marketing Manager at Pacific Dunes Golf Club said the Club was very excited to support the Wesley City Mission Newcastle.

“Pacific Dunes has always prided itself on being a very community focused Club,” Ms Petersen said.

“When we heard about the great things the Wesley Newcastle City Mission does for the people of the Hunter Valley, we really wanted to be a part of that,” she said.

Ms Petersen said Pacific Dunes goal was to raise over $10,000 for the Wesley Newcastle City Mission over the next 12 months.

“The Club is going to have a donation tin in the golf shop and ask players to make a gold coin donation when they play."

“Throughout the year we will also be holding raffles at corporate and group golf events to raise money for this worthy cause,” she said.

Scott Lyons, Community Relations Manager of Wesley Newcastle City Mission said he was looking forward to working with the team at Pacific Dunes over the coming year.

“Wesley Newcastle is working hard to develop partnerships with industry leaders in the Hunter. It is great to see an organisation like Pacific Dunes continuing their strong support of the community,” Mr Lyons said.

“It’s through the support of community minded groups like Pacific Dunes that we are able to provide assistance to over 20,000 individuals and families each year.”

Wesley Newcastle City Mission offers a wide range of programs and services to assist those who are less fortunate in the Hunter Region.

Newcastle City Mission was established in 1940 by a small group of Newcastle businessmen with the aim of assisting those in distress and poverty throughout Newcastle and the Hunter.

Pacific Dunes Golf Club is part of the Pacific Dunes, Port Stephens $180 million golf and residential community, a joint venture between Babcock & Brown, Citta Property Group, local property developer Robert Paul and Patrick Rafter.

Pacific Dunes Golf Club is managed by Troon Golf, the recognised leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing around the world.  The company currently manages more than 185 golf courses in 22 countries including the USA, Scotland, Japan, Mexico and the Bahamas.
