Case Study - Uniting Church Synod

The Uniting Church of Australia holds a Synod meeting annually which is attended by representatives of diocese throughout the NSW area. The meeting is held over several days allowing necessary business to be intermixed with information sessions, worship services and general discussion. After holding several Synods at the Wesley Centre from 1998-2001, The Uniting Church made the move out to Canterbury racecourse to enable more of their members to attend the Synod. Pleased with the quality and service provided by the Wesley Audio Visual team during their time at Wesley Conference Centre, Synod organizer Robert Key discussed the possibility of using Wesley’s Technical team to facilitate the meeting at Canterbury. Since 2002, Wesley Technical Services have provided the audio, video and staging equipment as well as labour for the duration of the 4 day meeting at Canterbury Racecourse. This has included the provision of multiple screen projection facilities for a wide variety of input sources, large scale audio setups including multi-room public address, hearing loop and interpretation systems, and recording and archiving of the entire event to enable distribution of specific sessions to Synod members.
“It is hard to keep finding new words to express my appreciation to you and your team for the very professional and pleasant way that you continue to look after the audio visual needs of Synod. I would be pleased if you could convey the appreciation of the secretariat and myself to you and your team for the friendly and co-operative way you dealt with the many and varied requests for technical assistance.”
- Robert Key, Synod Secretary
