Rouse Hill Families Connect
This is a North West Sector Community Hub Project with the purpose of establishing and maintaining a series of community hubs to provide opportunities for families to develop their own support networks provide services to families and children in the area and link key child and family service providers through outreach. The Hubs will assist parents with social networks, parenting skills, information and referrals to local services. The community hub model enables innovative and flexible approaches to family support and community development.
The Community Hubs will operate a “one-stop shop” model and/or activities from a variety of locations for families with children under eight years of age to:
- Participate in group and informal activities to assist parents to improve their parenting skills and to develop their own support networks
- Receive information about parenting and child development
- Access a variety of child and family services provided by visiting and co-located agencies and provide information about a range of services
The Hubs will work with a range of local organisations including the local primary schools and early childhood services, and deliver programs/activities in partnership where appropriate.
Client Group
The North West Sector Community Hub project is open to all families with children aged under eight years who live in the suburbs of the Rouse Hill area
Priority will be given to families who are socially isolated or economically disadvantaged. This may include, though is not limited to:
- Young and / or sole parents
- Families who are socially isolated
- Families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- Families with additional support needs
Location
The North West Sector Community Hubs will operate in the Rouse Hill area across Blacktown and Baulkham Hills LGAs
- Linking families and building support networks in community
- Variety of parenting and child development activities and information.
- Supported playgroups
- Breakfast club and transition to school program
- Information tip sheets
- Group activities grandparents walking group, scraping booking classes, art and craft
- Cultural activities
- Information sessions guest speakers
