All families need a hand sometimes. The Riverstone Area Family Centre provides resources, activities and training that assists parents in raising their families.

SERVING 2,000 TURKEY DINNERS
The poor, the homeless and the aged don’t have to spend Christmas alone, not when 200 volunteers serve 2,000 Christmas dinners at Wesley Mission centres.

Wesley Mission’s Vision Valley scored a winning 97.3% for excellence in customer service at the Australian Achievers Awards which are based on ratings from a business’s own customers.

FOSTERING CARE 24/7
Wesley Dalmar Youth and Family Services assist more than 120 foster carers of 370 children aged 0-6 with on-going training and a 24 hour on call service.

EXTENDING NURSING CARE IN NSW
Wesley Noakes, one of the largest providers of home and hospital nursing care, expanded its services to the NSW Central Coast this year, opening an office in Wyong.

KEEPING THE FAITH
Dr Keith Suter debunked assertions made in The Da Vinci Code and warned “When Christians stop believing in God they don’t then believe in nothing - they believe in anything”.

EMPOWERING WOMEN IN THE CHURCH
Wesley Mission Women’s Ministry helps women to reach their full potential by encouraging interaction and allowing them to find a place of rest in their busy lives.

Wesley Institute’s Vocational and Community Education provided external training to over 500 students. With 70% unemployed, the vision is to equip participants to confidently enter the workplace.

UPSKILLING THE INTELLECTUALLY DISABLED
An intellectual disability can make it harder to get a job than to actually do it. Wesley Life Skills coaches young people entering the workforce for the first time.

HEALING SEXUAL ABUSE TRAUMA
Restoring confidence to a young person damaged by homelessness or sexual abuse can take years. Wesley Dalmar’s Independent Living Program helps impart the skills they need to face life afresh.

RUNNING A UNIQUE INSTITUTION
Higher learning is soaring at Wesley Institute as the tertiary school celebrates remarkable growth in both resources and student numbers during the past year. The accreditation and re-accreditation of courses, national recognition of excellent standards and FEE-Help for students has made the Institute a learning centre of choice for an increasing number of Australian and international students — with 83 graduating and 63 gaining undergraduate degrees and diplomas, in subjects as diverse as theology, dance, drama, music, counselling, teaching and graphic design.

FOSTERING LIFE STORIES
Imagine growing up without knowing your own life story. That’s the reality for many foster children — often left piecing together fragments of the painful circumstances that led to them not being able to be with their birth parents. The Wesley Dalmar ‘Life Story’ project works with foster children to craft a book recording their birth facts, memories, significant people and hopes and dreams.The books create a tangible link with their natural families, better equip foster parents to look after them and providea more positive understanding of their own unique story.

A resident of Wesley Dalmar’s short-term units at Carlingford, Rodney Brine White, shares his passion for aboriginal art by passing on his skills to local kids.

LIFTING YOUTH SERVICE STANDARDS
Wesley Dalmar’s Mount Druitt Integrated Youth Service provides information and counselling to support healthy relationships between young people and their families and friends.

INNOVATING IN MENTAL HEALTH
Anxiety, depression, addictions, eating disorders, stress. A team of 58 psychiatrists and psychologists at Wesley Health Services find new ways to treat these modern plagues.

DROPPING IN SUPPORT
People with mild to moderate intellectual disability need extra support occasionally, so Wesley Community Living offers training and skills development on a ‘drop in’ basis.

LEADING EDUCATION PRACTICES
Vital literacy and numeracy skills are taught through Wesley Institute’s Vocational and Community Education arm, providing pathways to careers through ethical and caring teaching.

INSTALLING AN ONLINE OASIS
Young people working in the ‘big, tough’ city need a forum to share their experiences and worries. Club Oasis provides a faith-based, supportive network for busy nine to fivers.

BROADCASTING THE WORD
At 27 years, one of Australia’s longest-running television programs is Turn ‘Round Australia on the Nine Network, where every Sunday the Rev. Dr Gordon Moyes provides incisive comment on Christian issues.
