The Newcastle United Jets have reaffirmed their commitment to assisting the Hunter community by announcing at their Season Launch today, Community Partners for the 2006/2007 Hyundai A-League Season  -  Wesley Newcastle City Mission.

Wesley Newcastle City Mission is a regionally based activity of Wesley Mission, providing assistance to the people of Newcastle and the Hunter Valley.

Newcastle City Mission was established in 1940 by a small group of Newcastle businessmen with the aim of assisting those in distress and poverty throughout Newcastle and the Hunter. From humble beginnings it has grown into a dynamic welfare organisation.  Since 1999 Newcastle City Mission has been part of Wesley Mission.  In the last two years, Newcastle Youth Services have been integrated into Newcastle City Mission. Newcastle City Mission is now known as Wesley Newcastle City Mission (WNCM).

“The Jets are excited about the relationship with Wesley Newcastle City Mission, in particular the opportunity to work with their younger clients. They are real people, providing real help to those in need in Newcastle and the Hunter,” said Commercial / Marketing Manager Shane Smith today.

Wesley Newcastle City Mission is excited at the prospect of further developing relationships with the Jets players and coaching staff.

Wesley Newcastle City Mission offers the widest range of programs and services to assist those who are less fortunate in the Hunter Region. Assistance is provided to all ages and is achieved through a variety of programs ranging from Youth Services to a visiting program for the elderly and counselling through to homeless and accommodation services.
