New time for Sunday evening service
22 February 2007
Sunday Nights at Wesley Mission are changing in order to further expand and enhance the evening congregation’s ministry and mission.
In an attempt to attract even more younger people, Sunday shoppers and people heading home after sporting events Wesley Mission’s Praise, Prayer and Preaching service will start at 6 pm instead of 7 pm.
The service will end at 7.30 pm instead of 9 pm.
The new time changes will begin on Sunday, 4 March.
“This will enable young people, families, and the elderly who don’t want to be out late the opportunity to attend a time-friendly service,” said service leader and Superintendent of Wesley Mission the Rev Keith Garner.
“The Praise, Prayer and Preaching congregation upholds the Mission's traditions of evangelism, discipleship and pastoral care."
“It is very encouraging to see large numbers of people who live in the city CBD attending the evening service. However, if we are to expand and enhance these ministries then we need to have a service time which embraces even more city people."
“The new time will give us far more flexibility and make it a more attractive option for those who might consider the claims of Christ and those Christians who are looking for a family-friendly option.”
Held in the Wesley Theatre the service is telecast on Optus, Foxtel and Austar. Weekly Bible studies and fellowship groups enhance the study of God's Word and reinforce the unity of the diverse congregation.
