Easter at Wesley widens its net
04 April 2007
A selection of Easter events at Wesley Mission will take on a different frequency this year when they are broadcast to new and expanding audiences across Sydney and the nation.
On Good Friday at 12 noon, the Wesley Mission documentary Flying Through the Seven Churches of Revelation will air on Channel 9. Recorded on location in modern day Turkey, this one hour documentary looks at the historical sites of the first century churches featured in the biblical book of Revelation. The Rev Keith Garner flies over the landscape and visits these culturally rich locations while discussing the letters written to the ancient church communities in Revelation, revealing their meaning and relevance for today.
Keith has also been given the opportunity this year of writing the Diary piece for the Sydney Morning Herald’s Good Friday edition. In this piece Keith describes the whirlwind schedule of the Mission CEO/ Superintendent in the most important week of the Christian calendar – special services, Passion pageants in the city centre, extra media appointments and the famous Easter Sunday service at the Sydney Opera House broadcast live on television and radio.
Wesley Mission’s Easter Sunrise Service will air once again on Channel 7 at 7am on Easter Sunday and for the first time will be simulcast live on 103.2FM. To have two such high profile stations showing interest in broadcasting this significant event means that more people will have the chance to ‘tune in’ to the Easter story through this powerful service.
In the future Wesley Mission looks forward to further spreading the good news of the Gospel and highlighting the important work of helping those in need through these major communication networks.
