Wesley Report:
Beyond adversity: giving kids a chance to shine
Sunday, November 18 at 11 am
Wesley Mission, Sydney
Attention: Chiefs of Staff, News Directors, News Editors
The economic cost to the community of childhood adversity is enormous. In Australia in 2001-02, the annual cost of abuse and neglect was estimated at $4.9 billion with three-quarters of this attributed to long-term human costs such as health problems and lost productivity and the costs associated with public intervention.
The Wesley Report – Beyond adversity: giving kids a chance to shine - surveyed more than 600 respondents who suffered trauma as children. The Wesley Report examined the importance of early intervention and other factors in developing strengths in children for adult life.
The Rev Keith Garner will address the issue of early intervention, outline key findings and discuss recommendations.
