The Rev Dr Keith Garner continues to follow the journey of the Israelite people through the wilderness at a time of discontent and hunger, in which they longed for the food they had enjoyed as slaves in Egypt. In their grumbling, they accused their leaders of the worst of motives and forgot the compassion of God, who hears his people’s cries and offers comfort and hope in difficulty. In God’s patience with his people, he also showed his compassion in providing exactly what they needed. We can take encouragement from the knowledge that this same provider of manna in the wilderness meets our needs too.
