By Rev Keith Garner

Today’s sermon is based on James 3:1-12 and considers the role of speech in our lives. The Rev Dr Keith Garner looks at the inescapable truth that in this world we are known primarily through our words, and those words can do great good or great harm depending on the wisdom of the one who wields them. When we look at the example of Jesus Christ we cannot fail to notice the vital importance the spoken word had in his ministry- with it He healed, invited disciples to follow Him, and taught people world-altering truths. Our words, whether spoken before thousands, or just the few we see each day, have a tremendous impact on the outcome of not just our lives, but the lives of those who cannot help but hear.
