By Rev Dr Keith Garner

The Rev Dr Keith Garner introduces the book of Acts, sequel to the Gospel of Luke, to mark the 203rd anniversary of Wesley Mission. As we read of how the disciples waited for the gift of the Holy Spirit after Christ’s ascension, we learn that this same gift grants the church today power and direction to carry out our mission in His name. In the same way that the disciples observed what was happening around them, so we watch the world around us, looking for opportunities to show Christ’s love. As we are inspired by John Wesley’s courageous and sacrificial work with those most in need, we must share good news and hope in the diverse and complex setting of Sydney. We are left with the challenge, “What is it in your life that it takes Jesus Christ to answer?”
