Volunteer

Our volunteers are critical to the work of our community services–helping us provide more services, to more people and more often into the future. COVID-19 has made our services more crucial than ever by continuing to support and be there for the vulnerable in our communities during an incredibly challenging time.

We have a range of opportunities for you to take part in within our community. Please be assured, we are fully complying with government regulations and have adapted our volunteer roles to ensure the complete safety and wellbeing of clients and volunteers.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organisation and we recognise that without them the crucial work of building better lives for vulnerable people wouldn’t be possible.

Make a difference during this pandemic and volunteer with Wesley Mission

A message to our volunteers

Rev Keith V Garner AM would like to express thanks, from himself and from the whole Wesley Mission family, for the enormous contribution of all our volunteers in helping us keep our essential services open. COVID-19 has brought about changes to some of our volunteer opportunities, if you wish to continue to volunteer or wish to volunteer with us for the first time, please reach out to the Volunteer support team who will be able to share more about these roles and the amazing impact you can make on the lives of those we serve.

Volunteer opportunities

Companionship

Social isolation is challenging, but for some, it will be unbearable. The need to keep people connected whilst isolated is greater than ever. We’re looking for volunteers who can connect with our clients and residents through regular phone calls, video chats and even an old-fashioned letter. We will match you and a recipient with similar interests or background as a starting point for building an ongoing connection.

To find out more or apply to become a Companion call (02) 9857 2678 or email [email protected]

One positive to self-isolation is the time people will have to indulge in hobbies. In an effort to keep up with our clients and residents creativity we are looking for helpful donations of:

  • Colouring in books
  • Colouring in pencils/pens/crayons
  • Find-a-word
  • Crosswords
  • Magazines + books

Upcoming volunteering opportunities

We are adapting to meet government regulations and will be opening up new roles as needed. While we don’t know the specific requirements of the roles as yet, we do know that they will be non-contact. This could include collecting groceries or other essentials for people self-isolating if delivery is not an option, providing online tutoring or some other role yet to be identified.

If you want to be contacted when these volunteer roles are announced, please contact the Volunteer Support Team on 02 9857 2678 or email [email protected].
