Wesley LifeForce Networks
Wesley LifeForce Networks is an established union of people and organisations, working together towards suicide prevention in a wide variety of community settings throughout Australia, from urban centres, to remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Wesley LifeForce Networks suicide prevention services
A network is a coming together of people and organisations, a voluntary collaboration working together to influence outcomes of a specific problem. A suicide prevention network, addressing the specific needs of a local area, is one of the most effective ways of raising community awareness of the issue of suicide, while empowering its members to develop appropriate suicide prevention strategies at a grassroots level.
The second principle underpinning the Living is For Everyone (LIFE) framework, a project of Australian Government Department of Health, indicates that suicide prevention is a shared responsibility across the community including families and friends, professional groups, government and non-government agencies.
By bringing together key members of the community who are dedicated to suicide prevention, we help community members to take ownership of the issue and work towards real solutions to address the problem of suicide in their region.
Our networks are coordinated nationally and align to best practice standards. Utilising the networks methodology endorsed by the Australian Institute of Suicide Research and Prevention (AISRAP), potential network locations are identified in areas where there is a high incidence of suicide or a need from the community.
