Treatment for eating disorders
At the Wesley Eating Disorder Centre at Wesley Hospital Ashfield, we provide effective caring treatment for adults struggling with an eating disorder.
Run from a small cottage in the grounds of the hospital, our day program, Discover-Recover offers nutritional guidance and meal supervision to encourage regular eating plus creative and therapeutic group content to raise self-awareness and self-responsibility.
What we do
The program runs over four days per week helping people build skills to work towards recovery. The program is split into six modules all including skills development, meal support, mindfulness, shopping and cooking, therapeutic and educational groups. Attendees are required initially to commit to at least two days per week.
The program includes input from dieticians, group therapists, as well as movement, art therapy, and horticulture therapy. With a focus on supporting people to regulate their eating individuals are guided through the program in collaboration with a care Co-ordinator from the team who will offer individual support with planning and goal setting.
Who can come to Discover-Recover day program?
Any person struggling in the community with an eating disorder who wants to work in a committed way towards recovery. All those who attend need the ongoing additional support of a GP. It is also important people are linked with a counsellor or therapist of their own to make the best use of the skills they learn and develop during their attendance.
