In the heart of the Sydney CBD, school and corporate groups are taking up the challenge: can you shop for three days’ worth of food with less money than you spend on a gourmet sandwich?
Hosted by experienced presenters, the Wesley Homeless Food Challenge is based around fast-paced simulation exercises and thought-provoking discussions that promote teamwork and empathy. The results? Strengthened teams, empathy for people who are homeless or at threat of becoming homeless and a stocked pantry for Wesley Community Housing.
Group size: 15-30
Time commitment: Half day 10 am – 1 pm or 2 – 5 pm
Community impact: All food bought will be donated to Wesley Community Housing which provides food for those in transitional accommodation or those who are finding themselves under increasing financial stress.
What’s required: Have an open mind that actively considers the limited choices homeless people face today and the willingness to accept a challenge. Our corporate volunteers also cover associated facilitation and food costs.
