Building friendships between the generations

Welcome an Aged Care Volunteer Visitor

Would you like an aged care volunteer visitor to meet with you?

If you’re feeling isolated or lonely and are looking for social connection, find a new companion through Wesley Aged Care Volunteer Visitors!

Wesley Aged Care Volunteer Visitors is a free service that connects volunteers with older people.

You’ll be matched with someone who shares common interests and will visit you on a weekly or fortnightly basis. You’ll both benefit from strengthened wellbeing through quality, flexible and dynamic companionship that:

  • provides a sense of worth and belonging
  • extends social contact and minimises isolation
  • enriches both of your lives
  • builds connected communities that meet the needs of people of all ages.

Currently, Wesley Aged Care Volunteer Visitors operates across the northern, inner west, south west and western regions of Sydney, as well as the Central Coast, the Hunter, Lake Macquarie and Taree.

Where is the program offered?

Currently, we offer it to those living across the northern, inner west, south west and western regions of Sydney, as well as the Central Coast, the Hunter, Lake Macquarie and Taree. How do you know the person visiting me is safe?

Your safety is our priority. A full national police check and personal reference checks are undertaken on every volunteer visitor before they’re matched with an older person.

What do I do if I feel my Wesley Aged Care Volunteer Visitor isn’t a good match for me or I no longer want to participate in the service?

If you feel your aged care volunteer visitor or the service isn’t right for you, please contact your Wesley Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Coordinator.

Can I ask my visitor to do chores or run errands for me?

No, your aged care volunteer visitor is there to provide companionship and social support. If you require assistance with housework or attending appointments, please speak with your care provider.

What happens if I am sick or not up for a visit?

You can communicate your needs directly with your aged care volunteer visitor. Alternatively, you can contact your Wesley Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Coordinator or care provider.
