Welcome to our congregations

Welcome to our congregations

At Wesley Mission we love God and we love people. Our congregations are vibrantly diverse with people from all walks of life who share a common bond in Jesus Christ. On any Sunday you will find people from a rich tapestry of cultural and social backgrounds coming together for authentic and Christ-centred worship. Our 8 congregations worship in a variety of styles and languages but share a common focus on faithfully teaching God’s Word and sharing His kindness and compassion with others. We express our love for God and others by caring for those who find themselves in difficult and painful situations in a variety of practical and pastoral ways.

Christian life 10 BW

Word and deed ministry

We are grounded in a belief that every life matters and that faith without works is dead.

James 2:14-23 TNIV
"What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if people claim to have faith but have no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, "Go in peace; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead … As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead."

Who are our congregations?

Every Sunday people gather across our 8 congregations to worship God, learn from the Bible and meaningfully connect with each other. Congregations worship in English, Mandarin and a combination of Samoan and English. A number of smaller fellowship groups meet across our congregations throughout the week to grow and support each other on their faith journeys.

Former Rotuman congregation

One of Wesley Mission’s congregations, the Rotuman Congregation, has moved to join with the other Sydney Rotuman Congregation which meets in Drummoyne. These congregations have united to form a new community of faith called Sydney Rotuman Uniting Church.

The Rotuman Congregation has been a rich part of Wesley Mission’s congregational life from the 1970s, attracting worshippers of Rotuman and Fijian backgrounds. Over the years they have contributed to the vibrant spiritual life of Wesley Mission with their support, fellowship and service. The formation of the Sydney Rotuman Uniting Church is an exciting development for this congregation.
