Different from counselling, mentoring is less formal and more relational. Wesley Youth Mentoring asks its volunteers to commit to meeting face to face with a young person for about four hours a fortnight with regular telephone contact in between meetings.

Currently there is a list of young males waiting to be matched with male mentors. However, any adult over the age of 21 may apply to be a Youth Mentor. The mentoring match runs for 12 months (though there are possibilities for shortening or extending that time period).
