Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

  • Will my donation go to homeless people?

    /

Wesley Mission is a leading provider of homeless services across New South Wales and part of our approach of building capacity is to redistribute goods from the community within the same community. Wesley Retail only sells what is surplus to that need or items that are not required for emergency relief such as antiques and collectables.

  • What kinds of donations does Wesley Retail take?

    /

As we must pay to dispose of any item that is not suitable for recycling or redistributing, we take any donation that is in a good clean condition.

  • What goods are not accepted?

    /

We do not accept encyclopaedias, VHS videos and tape cassettes, baby items unless they have an Australian standards sticker, whitegoods and electrical appliances.

  • What happens to the stock that Wesley Retail can’t sell?

    /

We recycle cotton for rags and clothing is recycled to overseas charities. Once a year we have an upcycling exhibition where people create something new from donated items. All items are then sold to help raise funds for the other services we support.

  • What days is the truck available to pick up furniture?

    /

Wesley Retail trucks are allocated to different suburbs each day. Please contact your local store for further information.
