Wesley LifeSkills began in the early 1990s as an innovative response to help people with a disability take the necessary steps to enter employment or become more involved in the community. The program was developed through Wesley Disability Services, filling a much needed gap in the training and growth of people with disabilities.
The program initially focussed on helping people develop skills to enable them to work. It included development of interpersonal skills, communication, literacy and numeracy. Wesley LifeSkills expanded the program and now incorporates community skills, living skills, recreation and leisure.
Wesley Mission has been working with people with disabilities for more than 40 years. Throughout this time we have piloted a number of new support programs and demonstrated an ability to stay up to date with demands and developments in the field.
As services for people with disabilities have become more sophisticated, Wesley Mission has tailored services accordingly. We are able to draw on a number of networks and resources that we have built up over the years to offer people with a disability and their families a high standard of care.
