Wesley Cleaning has its roots in Wesley Mission’s David Morgan Centre—a centre that was opened in 1973 with the purpose of providing people with mild intellectual disabilities a meaningful place to work.
The centre owes its name to the late David Morgan, a former Wesley Mission Board member and business man. The Rev Alan Walker, who was Superintendent of Wesley Mission during the 1970s, expressed at a Board meeting that he would like to do something to help people with disabilities find employment. David Morgan had a block of land that he thought could be used for just this purpose, and so the work began. The David Morgan Centre was built and became a thriving workplace that has served thousands of people over its 40 years of operation. David Morgan was involved in the centre till his death in 2006.
The David Morgan Centre has developed and changed over the years and now Wesley Mission uses this facility to offer a suite of four distinct businesses: Wesley Cleaning, Wesley Packaging, Wesley Gardening and Wesley Graffiti.
Wesley Cleaning began in 2000 providing professional cleaning services for workplaces, government and warehouses
Wesley Supported Employment provides the staff for Wesley Cleaning services, along with training and ongoing support for those involved in this business.
