Lifeline volunteer Telephone Crisis Supporters come from all walks of life, communities and cultures and are of all ages. No previous training or counselling experience is required—just the desire to help others and to give back to your community.
Our Telephone Crisis Supporters undertake a comprehensive, highly regarded training program that prepares them for their work with Lifeline. They are trained to listen well and to help in emergency situations.
Becoming a volunteer Telephone Crisis Supporter is extremely rewarding—you’ll make a difference in the lives of many people. You’ll also develop your communication skills and learn a great deal about relating to people in need.
Our volunteer Telephone Crisis Supporters attend a regular fortnightly shift of four hours, which amounts to 92 hours a year. There are additional requirements for ongoing supervision and skills development. If you are over 18 and a mature person who can listen well and respond warmly to the concerns of others, we’d love to hear from you.
