Don’t let our shelves go empty
The Wesley Connect food and care program seeks to serve those in Sydney who are facing crisis or hardship.
Operating out of the Wesley Centre at 220 Pitt Street three days a week, this program provides support to people doing it tough. The program is run primarily by friendly and welcoming volunteers from our congregations who provide a bag of non-perishable food items, information on ways to access help and, most-importantly, a listening ear to all visitors of the program.
But the program is at risk of running out of food this winter, and being unable to provide for even the most basic needs of people seeking support.
“We have seen a 25 per cent increase in need during the winter months,” says Lucy Parker, coordinator of Wesley Connect. “The colder months are much harder for many of our Wesley Connect friends, and we need more help to meet their needs. Our shelves are fast running out of food.”
You can play a vital part in supporting people in great need this winter.
You can help by providing non-perishable food items, such as:
- canned goods (vegetables, soups, meats, stews)
- long-life milk (1L cartons)
Please bring your contribution to Wesley Connect at 220 Pitt Street Sydney, during the following hours:
- Tuesday: 10 am–1 pm and 2–4 pm
- Wednesday: 10 am–1 pm and 2–4 pm
- Thursday: 10 am–1 pm and 2–4 pm
