Wesley Financial Counselling features on ABC 7.30

On Monday 15 July, ABC 7.30 aired an interview with the Rev Keith Garner along with an honest and impactful story of one of our clients, Louie Tolentino, who has received financial counselling support from Wesley Mission.

Louie came to Wesley Mission with a loss of hope and a need to overcome his credit card debt. After working alongside Wesley Financial Counsellors, he is now in control of his finances.

You may not know that Wesley Mission has provided financial counselling since 1980 and in the last year, we supported more than 2,000 people. We have 21 Wesley Financial Counsellors from Coffs Harbour to Wollongong, who work hard every day to relieve clients of their financial stress.

What do Wesley Financial Counsellors do?

  • compile a budget or plan to help individuals live within their means
  • advocate or negotiate on behalf of our clients with creditors
  • offer information and counselling on bankruptcy issues
  • provide both short-term crisis management and long-term prevention strategies.

This is a vital service in high demand, and we recognise and appreciate all our Wesley Financial Counsellors who continually work to give our clients the chance of a fresh start.
